In what appears like daring his employer, Kano State Government, to do its worst, the Executive Chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, has rejected the posting of a new accountant to the commission.

Magaji, in a letter with reference number PCAC/GEN/1/VOL.1/XX addressed the state’s Accountant General, insisted that the government lacks the power to decide for his agency.

“The Commission is govern (sic) by the provision of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Law 2008 (as amended), “ adding that “appointment into any office of the Commission other than its membership is within the exclusive competence of the Commission.”

SAHELIAN TIMES has reported that PCACC’s accountant who is said to be a level 7 officer had been replaced in a move to open a full investigation of the agency’s financial transactions.

A source at the agency told our reporter that the Magaji would only allow his loyalist close to its account.

“We still don’t understand why our chairman allows only his loyalist to work as the commission’s accountant, “ the source observed.

Embattle Magaji is struggling to save his job after the state government allegedly drew a long list of his alleged transgressions in office.
