Alhaji Mahdi Shehu, the Kaduna State-based businessman and whistleblower of Katsina State Government’s alleged corrupt practices, to appear in court on Monday.
The critic who was arrested at the Kubwa train station on February 16, was later located at a Wuse Police Station, three days after he went missing.
His lawyer, Mustapha Abubakar Esq, filed the fundamental rights enforcement application seeking his release.
Justice Taiwo on Febuary 23rd, ordered the IGP to produce him in court on Friday 26 February, but the sitting was reportedly rescheduled Monday, March 1st, due to the death of the former Chief Judge of the court.
SAHELIAN TIMES gathered that, the arrest was allegedly ordered by the former Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammad.
The paper gathered that the arrest was in connection of a corruption scandal which involves the IGP, which the critic have, in his possession bank transaction documents that might indict the police chief.
A source close to the critic said that, “The IGP knows that Mahdi has all necessary document to expose him, this is only an attempt to silence him that went in the wrong direction.”
The Kaduna-based critic was first arrested in November 2020 over his allegations of corruption against the Katsina State Government.
