Mateu Lahoz has been selected as the referee for Saturday’s meeting between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The enigmatic official has plenty of experience in fixtures of maximum importance, making it little surprise that he has been picked for LaLiga Santander’s biggest game.
While the official decision will be announced on Thursday by the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), Radio MARCA has learned in advance that Lahoz will officiate El Clasico, with Soto Grado in charge of VAR.
Before that, however, Lahoz has another massive game to referee, in the form of the Champions League quarter final first leg between Bayern Munich and PSG today.
