Militants kill 70 civilians in Niger

At least 70 civilians were killed in simultaneous attacks on two villages by suspected terror group in Niger, near the border zone with Mali, security sources said on Saturday.

The attack also resulted in 49 deaths and about 17 people wounded in the village of Tchombangou, according to the source.

An official in Niger’s interior ministry who confided in Reuters, said that about 30 other villagers had been killed in the village of Zaroumdareye.

Niger is one of the West African countries affected by activities of a terror group Islamic States of West Africa Province (ISWAP).

The country is preparing for second round of the inconclusive presidential election.
