Military arrest 5 over killing herder in Zangon Kataf

The Nigerian military under the auspices of Operation Thunder Strike (OPTS) have informed Kaduna State government about the killing of a herder while grazing in Matyei village, Atyap Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf local government in Kaduna state.

In a statement signed by Commissioner of internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan said the troops responded to a report of a farm destroyed in the village on Sunday afternoon and arrived at the scene to discover that a herder named Ado Hassan had been shot dead by unknown persons.

After thorough investigation, the troops arrested 3 persons; David Kure, Peter Adamu and Bulus Duniya. Earlier this morning, 2 more people, Matthew Peter and Yohanna Chawai have also been arrested all in connection with the killing, and are currently under investigation.

Governor Nasir El-rufa’i of Kaduna state expressed his dismay over the killing and he has since sent his condolences to the family of the diseased while praying for the repose of his soul.

He urged citizens to eschew jungle justice and embrace recourse to the law in the face of any incursion or offence, he further tasked security agencies to conduct thorough investigations into the killing.
