Missing 300L KUST student found dead in Kano

A 300-level student, Ahmad Abubakar Idris, of Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST) who was declared missing five days ago has been found dead.

Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer of Kano police command, confirmed the incident, he said two suspects were arrested.

Ahmad, 22-year-old, student of Physics Department was reported missing on Saturday when he went to Mobile phone market in the state metropolis to buy a new phone.

The corpse of the deceased was found at a sand excavation site at Mariri in the outskirts city of Kano after police launched an investigation linking one of his colleagues who was with him before he died.

The father of the deceased said his son’s colleagues were suspected to have killed his son because of the money in his possession.

He said he rushed to Kano on Thursday after he received a call on Saturday that his son was missing and he immediately informed the police.

He added that the what triggered the unfortunate incident was Ahmad was sent some money to purchase a mobile phone for his brother.

The Kano State Commissioner of police, CP Sama’ila Dikko, had ordered the case to be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department, Bompai for further investigation.
