The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Kano, Muhammad Sani Abacha, has filed a lawsuit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Sadiq Aminu Wali, the PDP and its Kano Chairman, Shehu Wada Sagagi, challenging his substitution as the party’s flag bearer.

According to the court documents received by SAHELIAN TIMES, Abacha is asking the court to validate the primary election that produced him, and declare him as the gubernatorial candidate of the party.

He is also seeking the court to restrain INEC and its officers, agents, or privies from recognizing the second defendant, Sadiq Wali, as the gubernatorial candidate of Kano State for the 2023 governorship election.

It will be recalled that INEC at a news conference in Kano on July 1st, 2022 stated that the Commission recognized the PDP governorship primary election that produced Muhammad Abacha.

However, on July 22nd, 2022, the electoral umpire published the name of Sadiq Aminu Wali, as the Kano PDP governorship candidate.
