Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, the Chief Host of the inaugural Muhammadu Sanusi II Colloquium holding at the Yar’Adua Hall, Kaduna, has delivered the following welcome remarks;

1. I am delighted to welcome you all to this event. The Kaduna State is elated that this inaugural colloquium in honour of His Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II is holding in Kaduna.

2. This colloquium rightly celebrates His Highness, a highly cerebral man who had earned due recognition as an economist, a banker, and public intellectual of outstanding rigour and erudition long before he became the trailblazing and reforming Emir of Kano. Regal in bearing and yet most approachable, of strong convictions yet always open to debate, His Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II is no doubt a gift to Nigeria.

3. His Highness is a member of the generation born around independence, raised in a period of optimism for our country and determined to do their best to help realise the rich promise that Nigeria’s people and natural endowments have long suggested. His Highness has been a most eloquent ambassador for these progressive possibilities. He has not only thought deeply about them, he has provided distinguished service in various roles. In him, we have a man that is as outstanding in thought as he is in action.

4. His Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II has publicly associated himself with our efforts to reform Kaduna State, making lives better by putting people first. As Emir of Kano, he attended many of our events, from our investment summits to the durbar we put together to celebrate the centenary of Kaduna City.

5. Your Highness, the Kaduna State Government is grateful that you accepted to serve as Vice-Chairman of the board of the Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA) and as Chancellor of the Kaduna State University. We were delighted to see you at the recent meeting of the KADIPA board and we look forward to your continued support as we pursue progressive attainments for the benefit of our people.

6. Once again, ladies and gentlemen, I welcome you all and I invite you to enjoy the inaugural Muhammadu Sanusi II colloquium.

7. Thank you for listening.
