The 2021 ballon d’or runner up, Robert Lewandowski is pushing for a Bayern Munich departure after eight seasons with the club. Lewandowski who joined Munich from their domestic rivals, Dortmund featured in 253 Bundesliga games for Bayern, netting 238 goals in that period.
The player, who was Integral part of Bayern’s 2019-2020 champions league triumph said in a press conference while on International duty with Poland that: “My era at Bayern is over. I don’t see any possibility of playing for this club anymore. Bayern’s a serious club and I believe they won’t keep me. I don’t want to play there anymore. A transfer is the best solution. I hope they don’t stop me.”
Further confirming that the player is doing everything possible to leave the club, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic disclosed to Sky Sports in Germany that Lewandowski personally informed him that he would like to leave the club.
“I spoke to Lewa. During the conversation, he informed me did not want to accept our offer to extend his contract and would like to leave the club,” the sporting director told Sky.
In other reports, Barcelona are said to be huge admirers of the 33 year-old and are lurking for his possible signature. The player is also reported to be interested in a move to the Catalans. Fabrizio recently stated that Lewandowski desires to join the Laliga side and has reached verbal agreement for a three-year deal with them.
“When it comes to signing, age doesn’t concern me. We signed Dani Alves when he was 38. Players take care of themselves. Alves, Ibrahimovic, Modric, Cristiano or Messi are examples,” said Barcelona manager, Xavi, when asked by the press on Lewa’s age.
