Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the two unions of non-academic staff of Nigerian universities, have devised an alternative means of payment of salaries that would take care of peculiar needs of the universities.
At a meeting with Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, a negotiating team of NASU and SSANU informed the minister that they have developed their own payment which addresses the needs of the university system.
University General Peculiar Payroll Payment System, (UGPPPS) is the name given to the platform.
Ngige had assured the unions that the Federal Government welcomes any research that can assist to fine-tune the payment system.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had earlier presented its own alternative to IPPIS, which is called, University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS).
