Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said that Nigeria would not develop with the current level of corruption.

The Governor, who was allegedly caught stuffing Dollars in his pockets in a viral video released by an online newspaper in October 2018 revealed this on Thursday during inauguration of an eight-man Anti-Corruption strategy steering committee to ensure a corruption-free state with limitless opportunities.

Ganduje, who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, said the mission was to reduce corruption practices through heightened accountability, transparency and observance of rule of law.

He said, “Believe me, we don’t need to say that corruption in this country is killing all of us. The truth of the matter is that we will never develop or progress with this level of corruption in this country. We can not go on.”

He however said Kano State Government, under his leadership, is working hard to fight corruption by strengthening the state public complaints and anti-corruption commission by also allowing the commission to do its job without anybody’s interference.

He stated that his government had provided all necessary support to the commission in the fight against corruption.

He cited examples that two of his commissioners, a permanent secretary and some other top government Officials have all lost their jobs for corruption cases.

The Governor commended anti-corruption chairman, Muhyi Magaji-Rimingado, for his commitment in fighting corruption.
