NiMet predicts 3-day thunderstorms, rain

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted three days of thundery and rainy weather conditions from Wednesday to Friday.

 

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja predicted thunderstorms with rains over parts of Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Borno, Zamfara and Sokoto States in the morning hours on Wednesday.

 

According to it, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Gombe, Borno, Bauchi, Kano, Katsina and Zamfara in the afternoon and evening hours.

 

“Intermittent rains are anticipated over the parts of Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the morning hours.

 

“Later in the day, there are prospects of moderate intermittent rains over parts of Niger, Nasarawa, FCT, Kwara and Kogi States.

 

“The Inland and the Coastal cities of the South are expected to be cloudy with rain showers over parts of Lagos, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States in the morning hours,” it said.

 

According to it, rains are expected over parts of Osun, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Lagos and Delta States in the afternoon and evening hours.

 

“For Thursday, cloudy skies are expected over the Northern region with few rains over parts of Kano, Katsina and Sokoto States in the morning hours.

 

 

 

“Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Zamfara, Kaduna, Kano, Gombe, Katsina, Bauchi and Borno States.

 

“Cloudy skies are anticipated over North central region in the morning hours with prospects of isolated rains over parts of Plateau, FCT, Nasarawa and Niger States in the afternoon and evening hours,” it said.

 

It forecast cloudy skies to be over the inland and the coastal cities of the South with few rains over parts of Edo and Akwa Ibom States in the morning hours.

 

It anticipated rains over parts of Edo, Ekiti, Oyo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers, Lagos and Bayelsa States in the afternoon and evening hours.

 

According to NiMet, cloudy conditions are expected over the northern region with rains over parts of Yobe, Sokoto and Katsina in the morning hours on Friday.

 

The agency envisaged thunderstorms over Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Bauchi, Adamawa, Sokoto, Zamfara, Borno, Jigawa, Gombe and Taraba during the afternoon and evening hours.

 

NiMet predicted the North central region to be cloudy in the morning hours with prospects of rains over parts of Kogi, Niger, Kwara, Plateau, Benue and FCT during the afternoon and evening hours.

 

It predicted inland and coastal cities of South to be predominately cloudy in the morning hours with chances of rains over parts of Imo, Oyo, Ogun, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Bayelsa later in the day.
