NMA organises debate on healthcare for Kano gubernatorial candidates

Ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general elections, the Kano State branch of the Nigeria Medical Association  (NMA) has organised a gubernatorial debate for all candidates in the state.

Seven candidates racing to succeed Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje are expected to face off in the debate.

SAHELIAN TIMES gathered that the debate will critically look into some issues bordering on accessibility, availability, quality, and affordability of healthcare in the state.

The debate, which is scheduled for October 27, 2022, at the Bristol Palace Hotel, is intended to interrogate the candidates’ proposed healthcare plans and also set agenda for the incoming governor.

The candidates to participate in the debate include Mallam Ibrahim Khalil of African Democratic Congress( ADC), Shaaban Ibrahim Sharada of Action Democratic Party (ADP), Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of All Progressive Congress (APC), Engineer Bashir Ishaq Bashir of Labour Congress( LP), Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf of New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Sadiq Wali Mohammed of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Salihu Tanko Yakasai of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
