The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) told district managers on Wednesday to prepare to close train stations if workers go on strike.

The routes Abuja-Kaduna, Lagos-Ibadan, and Warri-Itakpe would be closed.

The Nigerian Union of Railway Workers (NUR) announced on November 12 that a three-day warning strike will begin on Thursday, November 18.

In an internal memo released on Tuesday, NRC Managing Director Engr. Fidet Okhiria urged all district managers and necessary officers to secure railway assets if the strike goes forward.

Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, invited labor unions on November 13, but the meeting ended in a deadlock.
