A 28-year-old Kwara man has been arrested for the kidnapping and raping a minor.

Bello Muhammed was arrested by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kwara.

He is said to have conspired with two other suspects to kidnap the minor in Ilale village, Oke-Ero in Irepodun council area.

The men waylaid the 15-year-old on her way to fetch water, dragged her into the bush, tied her hands and raped her severally while in their captivity.

They later contacted the girl’s family to demand N15 million ransom.

The two other suspects Umar Abubakar from Ajase lpo and one Babuga, are at large, the command’s spokesman Babawale Afolabi said on Tuesday.

Afolabi said the victim’s family paid certain amount of money to the kidnappers before she was released.

“Luck ran out of one of the abductors, Bello Muhammed who was arrested by local vigilante at Kara market, Ajase lpo and handed over to the operatives of the NSCDC.

“During the interrogation, Muhammed confessed to have committed the crime with his two accomplices who are still at large”, Afolabi added.
