NUC accredits 21 new programmes for KUST

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved full accreditation for 21 academic programmes at the Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil.

The NUC in a letter signed by its Executive Secretary, Professor Abubakar Abdulrasheed, through Director of Accreditation, Dr. Maryam Sali, the commission said the full accreditation validity is for the next five years.

Agricultural Education, Education Biology, Education Chemistry, Education Physics, Education Geography, Health Education, Human Kinetics, and Library and Information Science are among the 21 full-accreditation programmes.

Others include Civil engineering, electrical engineering, food science and technology, urban and regional planning, biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics, microbiology, physics, statistics, and computer science.

According to the statement, the approval was sequel to a successful resource verification exercise conducted by NUC team to ascertain the readiness of human and material resources to run the programs.

In response to the development, the university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Shehu Alhaji Musa, stated that the 100 percent accreditation of academic programmes under his stewardship is another mile stone achievement that will be etched in the sands of time.

According to a release issued by KUST’s spokesman, Saidu Na’Yahaya, on Saturday, the VC expressed satisfaction that the successes over the years were only dreams realised, not without the support and commitment of the visitor and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as well as the university’s Pro-Chancellor.

Professor Shehu, on the other hand, reaffirmed his diligence and strong dedication to establishing a global extraction centre and citadel of excellence, primarily in the fields of science and technology.
