Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi is set to join may join the Labour Party to pursue his presidential ambition.
Obi who announced his resignation from membership of the People Democratic Party (PDP) is reportedly in talks with the LP which will see him picking its membership card ahead of its presidential primary election.
It is, however, unclear whether he will be given the party’s automatic ticket, as renowned political economist Prof. Pat Utomi is expected to pick up the Labour Party’s Presidential form on Thursday.
Obi on Wednesday in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, announced his resignation from the party saying recent developments within the party had made it impossible for him to continue in the presidential race.
He, however, said he was happy to have contributed to the growth of the country through the PDP.
There are unconfirmed reports that Obi will seek an alliance with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s NNPP to create a major 3rd force against the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and PDP.
