The Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, had a chance encounter with the former Emir of Kano State, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, a year after dethroning him, in Niger Republic.
The duo have not been seen together on any occasion since the last time Ganduje made desperate but failed attempt at banishing Sanusi to Loko village in Nasarawa State.
SAHELIAN TIMES exclusively reported that Sanusi was invited by the newly elected President of Niger Republic to witness his swearing on Friday.
Gov. Ganduje, however, joined the Federal Government’s delegation sent to represent Nigeria at the swearing-in ceremony.
Other prominent members of the delegation include Mallam Nasir El-Rufa’I of Kaduna State and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State.
It will be recalled that, about a year ago, Ganduje had dethroned Sanusi and balkanized the biggest and historical Kano emirate into 5 struggling institutions.
Among the alleged offences that cost Sanusi his royal turban include his persistent refusal to attend official meetings and programmes organised by the government without any lawful justification, which amounted to insubordination to the governor.
