In a dramatic move signalling the possibility of a major clash in All Progressives Congress (APC) between the political godfather and godson, Vice President Osibanjo has informed President Buhari about his ambition to succeed him in 2023 election.

Osibanjo had served as a commissioner under Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, and it is believed that he was nominated to be the vice president by Tinubu.

According to the Daily Trust reports, Osibanjo has told the president of his desire to take over from him at the expiration of his tenure in 2023 to consolidate the achievements they recorded since they took over from the opposition PDP in 2015.

Now that the perceived secret of the VP’s  presidential ambition has been laid to the public bare the APC may eventually be forced to make a decision, as it is currently torn between a godfather and a godson.

“Certainly, VP Osinbajo has told the president that he wants to succeed him,” one of our sources said.

“The vice president had first consulted some prominent Nigerians who encouraged him to vie for the presidency and they also encouraged him to tell the president himself.”

“They told him not to allow a third party to tell the president so that the ambition will not be misconstrued,” Daily Trust reports.

A slew of support groups and individuals have sprung up to support him on. The organizations have been touring the country, sponsoring advertisements in print and broadcast media.

There are reports that the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele and the Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi would also vie for the presidency even as the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige had said he would soon join the race.
