Tension brewed in Kano Emir’s palace as a housemaid serving one of the late Emir Bayero’s daughters was tortured to death.
The late Bayero’s daughter, identified as Ummulkhair, accused the deceased of witchcraft which she denied.
Ummulkhair, who was not convinced, ordered the palace guards to torture the housemaid until she confess to being a witch.
According to the insider source, the guards complied with the instructions and tortured the woman until she eventually died on Sunday.
The Chief of Staff to the resigning Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ahmed Ado Bayero, in an interview with our reporter on Monday evening, promised to find out what exactly happened before commenting on the issue.
SAHELIAN TIMES reporter also contacted Kano State police public relation officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, but he did not respond as of the time of writing this report.
