The National Headquarters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has denied suspending the former governor of Niger State, Alhaji Babangida Aliyu, for allegedly working against the election success of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

The country’s main opposition party disclosed this on its verified Twitter account on Tuesday.

In the tweet, the party said “It has come to our notice, the fake news making the rounds on social media that former Niger State Governor and member of the @OfficialPDPNig Board of Trustees (BoT) H.E, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu (CON) has been suspended by the Party.”

The Chanchaga LGA of Niger State chapter has on Monday announced the suspension the state’s former over President Jonathan 2015’s defeat.

The state’s chapter of the party is in the midst of a lingering crisis that has torn it’s apart since its botched state congress in 2020.
