The Police in Kano have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly killing and burying his niece in his kitchen.
The suspect, identified as Jaafar, picked up his 11-year-old niece, Amina, from her home in Zaria and drove her to his home in Kofar Wambai Kano.
Zahra Mustapha, a resident of the community, told SAHELIAN TIMES that the suspect brought the deceased to his residence 28 days ago.
Jaafar murdered the little girl two days after bringing her to Kano according to the the source.
“We later discovered that after he murdered and buried Amina, he barred his wife from using the kitchen.
“Many of us in the community are suspicious of his activity, to the point where many of us avoided him,” the source said.
Speaking further, the source said Jaafar had been demanding for N5 million in ransom from the deceased parents, claiming that their daughter was kidnapped.
