Police arrest 39-year-old man for defiling five-year-old stepdaughter in Ogun

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 39-year-old man, Oladapo Akinola, for allegedly defiling his five-year-old stepdaughter.

 

The suspect was arrested on Monday following a report lodged by the mother of the victim at the Adigbe divisional police headquarters in Abeokuta, the state capital.

 

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

 

Oyeyemi added that the victim’s mother reported that while bathing her daughter, she observed blood in her private parts.

 

The PPRO added that the mother said on enquiry from the girl, she was informed that her husband, who happened to be the stepfather of the victim, unlawfully had carnal knowledge of her.

 

He said, “Upon the report, the Adigbe DPO, SP Fatoberu Oyekanmi, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect, who resides on Adewale Drive, Shokori, Abeokuta, confessed to the crime without any justifiable reason.

 

 

“The victim has been taken to a hospital by the police for medical treatment and report.”

 

Oyeyemi said the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had ordered the transfer of the suspect to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Eleweran, for further investigation and prosecution.
