The police in Kano State have succeeded in foiling the evil attempt of a 60-year old sorcerer in Kano, who was on the verge of plucking out an 8-month old baby’s eyes for ritual purposes.
The herbalist, who is popularly known as Mallam Yahya, was apprehended following a tip from one Kabiru Sani, who had earlier approached him for help.
According to the police’s spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspect had allegedly hypnotized Kabiru and convinced him to steal the baby whose eyes would be used for preparing amulets that could make people invisible.
The amulet was allegedly to be prepared for an officer of the Nigeria Army.
It was however gathered that herbalist was arrested while Kabiru was in the process of stealing his sister’s 8-month old child as planned.
A calabash, a red piece of fabric and other items planned for the ritual were recovered from the suspect.
The police are expected to arraign the suspect after the conclusion of investigation.
