Police arrest Igbo man who masterminds his wife murder to inherit her assets

The operatives of the Nigeria Police Intelligence Response Team have apprehended four suspects in connection with the kidnapping and gruesome murder of one Nneka Kalu, who was previously reported missing.

On August 29, 2021, she was discovered dead in a cassava farm in Ngugworo community in Nguzu Edda in Afikpo South, Ebonyi State.

The deceased’s husband, Emeh Kalu, Irem Mbah, Igwe Chima, and Okorie Okam, all from Nguzu Edda village, were among those arrested.

According to a statement by the Police Force’s spokesman, Frank Mba, titled “Police arrest greedy husband in Abia for masterminding the abduction and gruesome murder of his wife,” investigations by the police team revealed that Kalu hired co-conspirators to abduct and murder his wife in order to inherit her assets, which included landed property, money in the bank, and a thriving business.

“Investigations further revealed how the criminals strangled her to death after obtaining necessary information on the whereabouts of title documents and other relevant papers of her possessions.”

The statement added that efforts were being intensified to arrest other suspects and persons involved in the crime, adding that they would be arraigned after investigation.”
