Lagos State Police have arrested a man for allegedly removing his eight-year-old daughter’s breast using a hot iron
Records say the father committed the atrocity on his daughter as a result of her breasts beginning to develop, the first signs of puberty.
The girl is currently in hospital receiving medical treatment, with reports saying she is in critical condition as a result of the abuse inflicted on her by her father, Mr Banjo, because he thinks she has reached the age of puberty prematurely.
The father was reported to the police by a children’s rights group, and Lagos State Police spokesman DSP Asijebotu did not deny the allegations, saying they would investigate.
According to reports in Nigeria, the girl’s parents are currently being held by the Lagos State Police.
Comrade Ebenezer Omejalile, head of the children’s and disadvantaged rights group that sued the father, told the BBC that Mr Banjo, known as Panel, “had choked and burned his daughter’s breasts.”
“The girl’s father used a hot iron covered with a cloth until he was sure he had damaged his daughter’s breasts,” he said.
He also said that the father expressed his dissatisfaction with the way his daughter Aisha had started to develop breast and wanted to stop them from growing.
The girl’s mother said Mr Banjo physically assaulted his daughter. Comrade Ebenezer, however, said that he committed the atrocity in her presence.

Comrade Ebenezer also said the girl’s father admitted to committing the crime.
What saddens the father most, according to Comrade Ebenezer, is the way the girl’s father says he bathes the 8-year-old girl every day.
