Police arrest phone snatchers, burglar in Kano

Kano state police command under the auspices of “Operation Puff-Adder have arrested one Halifa Bala, of Sani Mainagge Quarters, Gwale local government.

Kano State Police Public Relation officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said Halifa was nabbed in possession of a long sharp Knife, 2 scissors, 2 torchlights, a hammer and 2 mobile phones.

The 20year old suspect during interrogation confessed that he’s been carrying out series of robbing and snatching mobile phones for over two years at Dorayi and Sani Mainagge Quarters in the same local government.

In the course of investigation, the police also arrested two suspects; Hassan Usman, a 35 year-old man and Bara Sani, a 20 year-old man in Dirimin Iya Quarters.

Hassan Usman confirmed that he bought at least 10 mobile phones while Bara Sani, confessed that he bought five phones from the suspected phone snatcher, Halifa.

Kano state Commissioner of Police CP Habu A. Sani has directed that the case be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Command for thorough investigation.

In the same local government, the command have also arrested one Dini Abudullahi after he stabbed Ahmad D Ahmad, a 22 year old on his chest, face and neck, taking away N200.

The victim has since been taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for treatment.

Dini, confessed to have committed the crime, disclosing that he’s an addict of intoxicating drugs, such as Indian Hemp and Diazepam tabs.

The suspects will be charged to court once the investigation finishes.
