Police arrest suspected killer of German national after 32 months of discreet investigation

Thirty two months after the kidnapping and killing of a German National and an Engineer with Dantata & Sawoe, Kano police command has finally arrested one of the masterminds of the heinous crime.

According to the press release issued by the command’s spokesman, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, a 30-year-old Abubakar Ismail was allegedly “behind the kidnapping and killing of Mr. Kreser Frank Michael, a German National and staff attached to Dantata & Sawoe Construction Company Ltd, along Madobi road, on 16th April 2018.

Ismail, an indigene of Wangara village, Rimin Gado LGA, Kano state, was arrested on the 19th December 2020, exactly 32 months after he had allegedly committed the crime.

DSP Haruna also said the suspect is currently cooperating with the police investigation, and has even led the security operatives to the place where his gang keeps its armoury in their village.

So far, one AK-47 rifle, one single barrel gun, and a revolver gun have been recovered.

“The suspect confessed to the crime and confessed that the syndicate has been terrorizing Rimin Gado, Gwarzo, Karaye, Kiru, Rano, Bebeji Tudun Wada, and other neighboring states, including Kaduna and Katsina for over five years,” added Haruna.

It will be recalled that on 16th April 2018, four gunmen kidnapped and subsequently shot Mr. Michael. During the attack, they also killed a police officer, Sergeant Rabilu Haruna, and made away with his rifle containing fifteen rounds of live ammunition.
