The Nigerian Police Force has denied the story of a plan to deploy Balarabe Sule, a former chief security officer to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, as the new commissioner of police in the state.

Members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) led by a former executive secretary of TETfund and senatorial candidate of the NNPP, Baffa Bichi had on Tuesday stormed the zonal headquarters of the Force in Kano to protest the alleged plan.

However, in a press statement, the zonal headquarters through its Public Relations Officer, SP Abubakar Zayyanu Ambursa, denied ever receiving a signal to that effect, adding that there is no existing plan to deploy a new CP to the state for elections.

CP Balarabe Sule, who was recently promoted to the rank of police commissioner and posted to Cross River State, was a deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations in Kano for many years.

Opposition parties have accused the officer of partisanship and they view him as an agent of repression against their supporters during his stay in Kano.
