Police invite Rahma Sadau over blasphemy incident

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has reportedly ordered the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police to invite Rahma Sadau for questioning over the blasphemy comment on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Acting on the directives, Fim magazine reported that the Commissioner, Alhaji Umar Muri, has already asked the actress to appear for interrogation.

Sources have informed the magazine that the IGP gave the order after receiving a complaint from one Alhaji Lawal Mohammad Gusau.

The petitioner blamed Sadau for posting racy pictures on her Twitter handle, which resulted in one of her followers making blasphemous comment against the Prophet of Islam.

Sadau was on her way to Dubai, with her family members, for tourism when she received the police invitation.

In the petition signed by Gusau on 3rd November 2020, he stated that, “the pictures posted by Rahma has caused a serious commotion on social media, but the actress refused to promptly remove them.”

He added that, “The pictures had caused tension among the Muslim faithfuls, which could potentially lead to breakdown of law and order, considering the tensed situations caused by the Charlie Hebdo cartoons.”

He called on the IGP to take necessary measures to avoid the country drifting into another chaos just after restoring calmness from EndSARS protests.

He concluded by requesting the IGP to arrest Sadau for inciting the public.

Sadau is expected to arrive Kaduna state police command at 3pm on Saturday.
