Police kill 2 kidnappers, rescue 3 victims in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has rescued three kidnapped victims and killed two suspected kidnappers in a gun battle in the state’s Toro Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil,  in press conference in the state capital said  that a combined team of policemen led by Divisional Police Officer, Tulu Division, and vigilantes combed the enclave of kidnappers after the receipt of an intelligence report.

He said there was credible intelligence on 27th August 2022 at the disposal of Tulu Divisional Police headquarters on the activities of suspected kidnappers.

The police spokesperson added that on the 26th August 2022 suspected kidnappers blocked Tulu Rishi Road and kidnapped one Alhaji Alhassan Gambo of Anguwan Bawa, Kaduna State and shot one Alh Mujitafa Usman of Funtua LGA Katsina State who was on a business trip to Tulu, on 28 August 2022.

Wakili said on 29 August 2022 suspected kidnappers were also intercepted at Doka Auwalu Mountain of Tama ward Toro LGA.

He said two of the suspects were killed by the operatives during the gun duel while others scampered in disarray with gunshot wounds into the nearby forest, adding that one vigilante member paid a supreme price in the process.

Wakil said the operatives rescued Alhaji Alhassan Gambo, 60, of Anguwan Bawa, Kaduna State, Badamasi Saadu, and Abdullahi Sani.

He said the victims were rescued by the operatives unhurt and subsequently reunited with families after medical examination.
