Police in Jigawa State have arrested a 30 year-old woman, Balaraba Shehu, for allegedly conspiring with her lover to bury their baby inside a toilet.
While confirming the horrific tragedy the spokesperson of the state command DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam in a statement said that the crime happened at Tsurma Village, Kiyawa Local Government Area, Jigawa State.
“On receipt of the report, detectives exhumed the newborn baby from the toilet and arrested the suspected mother.
”The baby was rushed to the Dutse General Hospital and certified dead by the doctor.
”Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man, Amadu Sale, a.k.a Dan Kwairo, of Akar village in Kiyawa LGA, who alleged to be responsible for the unwanted pregnancy and conspired with the suspect to bury the baby after delivery,” the statement said.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Effiom Ekot, is said to have directed the case to be transferred to state crime investigation department in Dutse for discreet investigation.
