The Kaduna state police has arrested a suspected arms dealer, killed one bandit and recovered eight SMG rifles, one pistol and 85 rounds of 7.62 X 39mm live ammunition.
The state police public relation officer, ASP Mohamed Jalige, confirmed this in a statement.
He said five people have been rescued, including three children in a foiled kidnap attempt in the Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State on Friday.
Jalige identified the rescued victims as Nuhu Garba, Ismail Muhammed, Halima Suleiman, Karima Ayuba, all of Birnin Gwari, and Musba’u Usman of Funtua town in Katsina State.
The spokesperson assured that efforts were on high gear to ensure that the fleeing bandits were apprehended addding that the victims had since been reunited with their families.
