Private school owners in Kano have demanded that their colleague, who kidnapped and murdered his 5-year-old student in the state, be prosecuted.

The tragic event has continued to garner national attention and condemnation.

The stand of the school proprietors was taken at a meeting attended by the leadership of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Association of Model Islamic Schools (AMIS), and Association of Private Schools Owners of Nigeria (APSON), among others- in the office of the Executive Secretary, Kano State Private and Voluntary Institutions Board, Musa Abba Dankawu.

The school owners sympathised with Haneefa and her family, and praised the security agencies involved in uncovering the heinous crime, while urging the government to prosecute the suspect as soon as possible.

Dankawu warns that any proprietor found wanting on issues that are not in accordance with the law and the board’s governing rules would certainly lose his operating license.

The group also came to an agreement on how to reposition and restructure the state’s private school educational system.
