Protests erupt as Bazoum is set to be announced Niger President

Bonfires in Yamai, the capital city of Niger by supporters of opposition parties as the result released so far showed Muhamed Bazoum is in pole position to declared the country’s elected President.

Report says some supporters of opposition parties stormed the city’s major roads and started protesting opposing the recent result.

The incident happened after the oppositions rejected the result released by electoral board, CENI.

The result revealed by CENI indicated that Muhamed Bazoum of PNDS party is likely to emerge the winner of the poll after he got over two million votes while his opposition, Mahamane Ousmane got over one million votes in the second round of the poll held on Sunday.

Its expected that CENI will officially announce the winner of the election later today.
