Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is expected to receive the committee report on the planned debate between Shiekh AbdulJabbar Nasiru Kabara and Kano based scholars today, Monday 22nd February, 2021.
The state Commissioner for Religious affairs, Dr. Tahar Adamu, said that the general public misunderstood the two weeks notice given by the state government earlier on, “The two weeks notice given by the government was for the committee to work on the planning and submit to the governor.”
He noted that the statement released last week did not imply that the dialogue will hold today. “The committee has concluded its work, and has invited both security agencies and clerics from within and outside the state.” He said.
He added the Governor will study the report submitted to the him by committee and fix a date for the dialogue.
Dr. Adamu said the government will not listen to those clerics advocating against the dialogue.
