Residents of Kuntau, Gwale Local Government in Kano State hacve refuted allegations of an infiltration of bandits in the area.
Members of the neighbourhood told SAHELIAN TIMES in an interview that they had not seen any intrusions, not even heard of it through a third party.

“I reside a few homes away from Kuntau and I have neither seen or heard of bandits patrolling the community in the period that or after,” Mahmud Rufai said.

The Kadawa ward head confirmed that until our reporter contacted, there had been no reports of this nature, and neither had the community security system contacted him.

“This is the first I’ve heard of it, no one has mentioned it to me, and if it had actually occurred, I’m sure I would have heard about it,” he said.

A Facebook user going by the name Dr. Fatima Sani had earlier posted a claim that she had seen hundreds of Fulani men on motorcycles in the early hours of November 20, 2022, and that she believed they were bandits.

She claimed to have observed approximately 100 motorcycles, each driven by three Fulani males, in the area of Kadawa in Kuntau.

Fatima claimed that the bandits did not let her pass until they realise she speaks Fulani as well.

When contacted, Kano State Police Command spokesperson DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa noted that six people were arrested on motorcycle on the stated period.

The police investigation revealed that the six people were harmless travelers on their way to the southern part of Nigeria.
