Sani Dangote laid to rest in Kano

Sani Dangote, the Dangote Group’s vice president, and Aliko Dangote’s brother, was laid to rest in the family’s private cemetery in Kano on Wednesday.

Mr Dangote died on Sunday in the United States after a long illness. He was 61 years old at the time.

His remains were laid to rest in the Alhassan Dantata family cemetery in Kano’s Koki quarters (Sarari).

After funeral prayers led by Sani Zarahdeen, the Chief Imam of Kano State, the solemn ritual was concluded at the palace of the Emir of Kano.

The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, the deceased’s elder brother, Mr Dangote, Kano Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, and Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, were among the political and commercial leaders in attendance.

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika, and Senators Ali Ndume and Abdullahi Adamu were also in attendance.

Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno State; Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule; and former governors of Nasarawa, Adamawa, and Borno states, Tanko Almakura, Jibrilla Bindow, and Kashim Shettima, respectively, were among the dignitaries present.
