Senate rejects the nomination of Lauretta Onochie for appointment as National Commissioner for INEC.
According to the report of the Senate Committee on INEC, the decision to reject Ms. Onochie’s nomination is based on Section 14(3) of the 1999 Constitution on Federal Character Principle.
It is also based on the fact that Barr. May Agbamuche, a National Commissioner from Delta State in INEC who was confirmed by the Senate in 2016, is still in service.
