A Sharia court sitting in Kano has ordered the former presidential aspirant and elder statesman, Alhaji Bashir Usman Tofa, to appear before it unfailingly on 12 February 2021.

The presiding Judge, Isma’il Garba Kofar Na’isa, said that he gave the order because Tofa has so far shown disrespect to the court.

SAHELIAN TIMES gathered that one Alh Bashir Dalhatu filed a case against Alh. Tofa accusing him of refusal to settle his $200,000 loan, an accusation which Tofa denied.

The judge said that the court had initially sent a summon letter to Alh Tofa, but he refused to honour the subpoena.

As a result of Tofa’s contempt for the court, the judge dispatched a team that comprises a police officer and a court clerk with an injunction ordering Tofa to appear before the court on 12 February.
