Shehu Sani condemns attack on Hausa community, asks Makinde to compensate victims

Senator Shehu Sani has condemned the killing of Northerners and the attack of over 6000 people on Sasa Market traders in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The Senator on his official Twitter handle said “ The attacks on the Hausa community in Oyo State is unreservedly condemned.The Government of Oyo State must ensure that the culprits are brought to justice. Security forces must protect those targeted. The victims must be compensated. We must resist the anarchists among us.”

 

Many Northerners were reportedly killed in the attack, and hundreds of shops were burned down by hoodlums in the Oyo.

A source said that the crisis vented on Thursday, when a porter carrying a basket of tomato unintentionally jolted a Yoruba woman. The woman allegedly retaliated and organised a group of Yoruba thugs to avenge.

One of the thugs reportedly died after afterward and when the news of the death circulated, the Yoruba youths allegedly gathered and started attacking the Northern traders.
