The correctional facility in Kano State on Thursday morning denied reports that embattled Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abduljabbar Nasir Kabara, had been poisoned while still under its custody.

The spokesman of the Kano Correctional Centre, DSP Misbahu Lawal, made the denial in an exclusive chat with SAHELIAN TIMES, saying the allegation was false in its entirety.

He noted that the Sheikh does not take food from anyone except the food that was supplied by his own son.

“Sheik Abduljabar doesn’t even drink water unless it was provided by his son”, he stressed.

Nevertheless, the facility spokesman advised that the man who identified himself as Yakubu Abdullahi “should take himself to their nearby security facility in the state.”

It was further gathered that, at the time of filing this report, the sheikh was healthy and in his detention cell.

SAHELIAN TIMES reported that Abduljabbar Kabara was arrested on allegations of blasphemy against the Holy Prophet Muhammad, SAW.
