Justice Mustapha Sa’ad Darti of a Kano Magistrate Court has, on Friday, ordered the Kano state Commissioner of Police to conduct an investigation into the alleged threat to life and defamation of character levelled against Sheikh Abduljabbar Kabara.

Justice Mustapha Sa’ad-Datti, gave the order upon hearing a motion exparte brought Abdulrahman Nasir, counsel to the applicant, Sheikh Abdallah Pakistan while the respondents in the suit are Kabara and the state police commissioner.

The order, with number KA/CMC14/003/2021, ordered the Commissioner of Police to submit his findings to the court on or before March 27.

The court maintained that the order was pursuant to Order 9 Rule 8 of the Magistrates Court 2018.

Kano State government has on February 3rd, banned Abduljabbar Kabara from preaching and closed his places of worship while at the same time deployed heavy security agents around his residence.

Recall that the proposed debate between the embattled Kabara and Kano cleric which was initially slated to take place on 7th March was suspended until March 22nd by a magistrate court in Kano.

This was coming after Jama’atu Nasril Islam, a leading Islamic body in the country, said its members would not participate in the planned debate and there was no need for a debate with a “blasphemer”.
