Former Kano State Governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, has concluded plans to defect from All Progressives Congress (APC) to New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).
The serving senator representing Kano Central under APC, is set to declare his movement to NNPP on Saturday.
A source close to the former governor said Kwankwaso and Shekarau are to arrive Kano tomorrow (Friday)for the NNPP membership declaration of Shekarau.
“Kwakwanso and Shekarau will almost certainly return to Kano on the same flight tomorrow and Shekarau will formally join the NNPP on Saturday.
“Shekarau asked all of us to return to our constituencies and consult with our constituents to see if it was okay for us to decamp to the NNPP,” the source said.
The source also stated that Shekarau will most likely pay his allegiance to Kwankwaso on Saturday.
The former governor is expected to make his declaration along with other members of the APC factional G-7 that challenged the legitimacy Ganduje-backed APC state executive council.
