Troops of the Operation Hadarin Daji have rescued 18 women and five children who were kidnapped in Kwayawa village, Safana Local Government Area, Katsina state.

This news was disclosed in a statement signed by the Defense Headquarters’ Public Relation Officer, John Eneche, who said the troops got genuine information about the incessant attacks by gunmen in Wurma village, Kurfi Local Government.

The kidnappers ran out of luck when they came in contact with the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, after abducting several people and their livestock in Kwayawa village.

There was exchange of fire, which resulted the freeing the 18 women and five children from captivity, together with their 75 livestock.

The soldiers have handed over the freed captives to their families, the statement highlighted.

Katsina state is among the northern Nigeria’s states that are currently experiencing serious security challenges such as kidnapping, banditry, and cattle rustling.

It will be recalled that a few weeks ago, gunmen kidnapped more than 400 students of the Government Science Secondary School Kankara, who were later released after series of negotiations with the bandits.
