Reports say gunmen have attacked former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo and killed three policemen among the security aides attached to him.

The Anambra State police public relation officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu confirmed the attack but did not go into details.

Soludo, who was attacked in Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State had indicated his interest in the November’s governorship election in Anambra State.

This is the latest violence attack on security agents in the Southern part of the country.

Earlier this month, gunmen invaded a bus conveying some suspects to court in Anambra and killed a prison warder and other person in Aguata LGA.

The Nigerian Police public relation officer, Frank Mba, had on Sunday announced that some members of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) were arrested over the murder of security operatives.

No group has claimed the responsibility for the attack on Soludo yet.
