Students trek as Tricycle riders begin strike

Students in Kano State are stranded as Tricycle Owners Association embark on warning state across the state.

SAHELIAN TIMES reporter sighted hundreds of students trekking down to schools in the early hours of Monday.

In an interview, Abubakar Usman, a student of Bayero University said he is afraid of missing his exams which is scheduled to hold today.

Some groups of secondary schools students sighted around Kwanar Jaba in Nassarawa Local government of the state, told our reporter that they have given up on making it to school today.

The tricycle operators are embarking on the strike over the failure of the state government to suspend the collections of N100 as daily tax.

Last week, they took over major roads protesting in Kano to show their grievances over the untold hardship they’re going through as a result of the daily tax they’re paying the state government.
