Edo 2020: Festival begins with 13 games

The 20th National Sports Festival will commence with thirteen sporting activities on Sunday, April 4.

Badminton will be the curtain-raiser at the Sports Hall, Etele Gymnasium while boxing holds at the Oba Akenzua Cultural Center, Airport Road. Cricket and cycling will take the centre stage at Adolor College Ugbowa and Airport Road, Aruaga GRA, Benin respectively.

Handball, hockey, Judo, Karate, Kickboxing and kokawa are other events scheduled to start on Easter Sunday.

Scrabble, squash, swimming, taekwondo and tennis complete the 13 sporting events on Day 1 of the 2020 National Sports Festival in Edo state.

All States coming for the 20th National Sports Festival are expected to have undergone the mandatory COVID-19 tests as well as taking the vaccination before embarking on the journey to the host City.

Team Taraba was sent back home on their arrival day (Friday) following their failure to produce Covid-19 tests and vaccination records.
