Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, the former governor of Kano State, has revealed what he discussed with Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos on Sunday.

In an interview with the BBC Hausa service, Shekarau stated that he was invited by Tinubu to discuss the party’s state chapter’s crisis.

“He called and asked if we could meet in Abuja, and meeting him was something I was used to.”

The Senator denied reports that he met with the APC national leader without the consent of other party members.

“When I went to Lagos, I went to his house, and he begged me to tell him what was going on because he had heard reports that I was fighting the state governor.”

“He noted that the governor of Kano State has shared his side of the story and that he would like to hear from us.”

“I told him what happened from the beginning of the squabble to the court ruling, and I told him how some of us have been excluded from the party’s leadership,” Shekarau said.

The former governor also denied discussing the party national leader’s presidential ambitions.

“Now that he has heard our side of the story, it is up to him as a leader to advise the governor or the party’s national office.”

In response to their meeting with the APC reconciliation committee, the former governor stated that they have not done anything contrary to what they discussed.

“The committee stated during their visit that the final court ruling must be made before they intervene.”
