Tragedy as young man connived with friend to murder his father in Niger State

The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly murdering his father in Minna’s Chanchaga neighborhood.

SAHELIAN TIMES gathered the suspect, Abubakar Mohammed Buba, hired the services of his friend, Aliyu Muhammad, who assisted him in carrying out the heinous act.

The victim admitted that he paid Buba N100,000 to assist him in the act.

According to a source close to the suspect, Buba has a history of drug abuse and violence in his community.

“He once beat up a Fulani man until he lost his consciousness in our community. He’s a notorious guy,” a source said.

The spokesperson of the Niger State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the suspect in an interview with our reporter. 

He noted that  the suspect confessed to conniving with his friend to kill his father to inherit his property.

“He claimed to have committed the act in order to quickly inherit the father’s properties,” the statement read.

He said the deceased, Mohammed Buba aged 52 years, was attacked and stabbed to death at his residence.

The suspect led Police operatives to Tagwai-Dam where the body of the deceased was dumped after being severed and packed in a sack.

At the time of writing this report, the paper learned that efforts to apprehend the fleeing Buba were in full swing.
